Helen Keller once said, "I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do."
That's exactly how I feel! However, now that I have found this group I know that we can do so much more together!
I was born in a very small town in the mountains of CA and I still live there. County population is around 45,000 and I love it here! I am a retired waitress and mother of 3 grown children Chad 36, Jennifer 25, Jedediah 22, with no grandchildren of my own (yet).
We have sponsored in the DR since 1995 but I became more involved when my last child moved away to college in 2005. After a wonderful visit to the DR in January '09 I saw the need for a bathroom and running water in the tiny house of Yamileisy and Jose Manuel. I was able to send the funds recently and can't wait to see photos of the results. My planning was in the works basically before I met this group of people. I've always believed in the "pay it forward" system. I am happy to be a part of this group for Paola and know that we will make a big difference in her life!
My current sponsored children are;
Yamileisy age 10 in August Dominican Republic
Jose Manuel (her brother) age 6
Jose Joel age 11, DR (older brother of my daughter's sponsored child)
Paola age 4 Mexico
